NHL Thursday - Three More Series Begin

Wednesday night was the evening of the underdog for the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, with all four underdog teams posting outright wins on Wednesday.

Ottawa won as a +196 dog, Philly as a +144, Phoenix as +105 and Colorado as a monstrous +204 dog.

Tonight, three more series get started, kicking off with the Montreal Canadiens (+245) @ the Washington Capitals (-270) at 7pm EST.

The Caps are the current overall favorites out of the East, posting a 54 win, 121 point season, and captain Alexander Ovechkin has been is usual, dominating self all season long. It's been far too many years of playoff disappointment for the Capitals, and this is now a very experienced and hungry playoff contender, I'm not sure the Canadiens are going to carry the underdog baton into Thursday.

Boston heads into Buffalo as +141 underdogs -  also at 7pm EST Thursday - as the Sabres (-153) look to take out the streaky Bruins. Buffalo only coasted into the post season, where the Bruins turned it on late and are on a 3 game winning streak. The Sabres home ice is actually working in Boston's favor in this first round series, as the Bruins home record was only one game over .500 this season.

If you're looking for a Thursday dog, this is your pick.

Rounding out Thursdays action is a trip out west where the Vancouver Canucks host the Los Angeles Kings. The last time these two teams met, the Kings dropped 8 goals on a shaky Roberto Luongo, who just hasn't been the same since winning a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympics.

The Canucks are currently -190 faces at home, putting the Kings at a reasonable +160 heading into GM Place. This game has Canucks fans on edge, as one of the only questions that are still unanswered for their All star goaltender and Art Ross winning winger is performing well in the post season.

For my money, this game is a sit and wait.
