NHL Tuesday

Suffering from a college hoops hangover? What you need is a nice cool drink of NHL betting action. Tuesday's schedule has a ton of options on the ice. Here are the best games on the board:

Ottawa Senators at Washington Capitals

The last time these two teams clashed there were 11 total goals scored in a 6-5 win for the Senators at home back in February. Ottawa is once again playing the level of hockey that can compete with the Eastern Conference's top team. It’s won four games in a row on the back of goaltender Brian Elliott.

Elliott allowed just four goals in those four games, giving up two goals on 22 shots in a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers on Saturday. The Senators are 12-22-2 over/under inside Scotiabank Place but post a 20-16-1 over/under mark as a visitor. They allow more than three goals per game on the road – almost one goal more than at home.

The Capitals are hitting a bit of a snag, losing their last two games heading into Tuesday. Washington's most recent defeat came at the hands of the Calgary Flames, losing 5-3 at home Sunday. The Capitals’ powerful offense has been sputtering in recent games, totaling five goals on 77 shots during this brief skid. On defense, Washington has struggled to keep the puck out of the net, giving up eight goals in those two games.

Phoenix Coyotes at Vancouver Canucks

Two of the best teams in the Western Conference collide on the coast Tuesday. The Coyotes have won three of the past four meetings with the Canucks including their most recent game, winning 4-3 in a shootout in Phoenix on March 10. The over/under is 2-1-1 in those last four games.

Phoenix snapped a two-game skid with a 6-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night, giving the Coyotes their eighth win in the past 10 games. Phoenix and its front office is trying to stay focused on the upcoming postseason amidst rumors that the team will be sold and could be on the move back to Winnipeg.

Vancouver has just one win in its last four games and is coming off a 4-2 defeat to the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavilion on Saturday. The Canucks are hoping improved play from star goaltender Roberto Luongo is a sign that he is snapping out of his Olympic hangover. Luongo allowed three goals on 29 shots against the Sharks and, while he didn't get the win, kept his team in the game with some stellar work between the pipes.
